May 10.–13. The European Orchestra Federation (EOFed) organizes the 11. European Orchestra Festival in Bergen. Children, youth and adult symphonic and chamber orchestras will be filling the concert halls. During The European Orchestra Festival you may hear works from the entire history of Western orchestral music, from the early baroque period, via classicism and romanticism and all the way to modern contemporary music. There will also be a world premiere of an entirely new orchestral work, written by the Norwegian composer Ketil Hvoslef. Grieghallen is the main venue for the festival, but there will also be concerts in about ten different venues: The Grieg Academy, King Håkon’s Hall, the university auditorium and churches in downtown Bergen. All the concerts are free to attend! The European Orchestra Festival is being organised every three years by the European Orchestra Federation (EOFed). This year, the festival is hosted by the Norwegian Youth Orchestra Association (UNOF) and the Norwegian Symphony Orchestra Association (NASOL).
