Bergen 2017 is the organization responsible for planning and organizing the event in Bergen in 2017. For the second time Norway will host one of the biggest international cycling events in the world - the UCI Road World Championships. Since 2011 Norges Cykleforbund (NCF/The Norwegian Cycling Federation), the City of Bergen, the County of Hordaland, and the neighboring Municipalities of Askøy, Fjell, Sund, and Øygarden have cooperated closely to plan this fantastic event. The vision of Bergen 2017 is to organize a spectacular, inspiring, and popular world championship in cycling. This will be accomplished by championing the values of joy, unity, wellness, and honesty. The UCI Road World Championships consists of 12 tournaments over nine days, several audience events, and an extensive schedule of related cultural events. The athletes will compete in three different disciplines: team time trial, time trial, and road race. In the latter two categories, there are five divisions: Junior Male and Female, Under 23, and Elite Male and Female. The Championship is the biggest summer sports event Norway can host.
