Bergen Assembly

01. September - 04. October 2016

Bergen Assembly

Bergen Assembly is a large international art festival held in Bergen every three years, and this September invites you to a number of events that are all free for the general public. After three years of planning the 2016 version of the triennial is finally ready, where three artistic leaders - Tarek Atoui, freethought, and PRAXES have gotten free reign to develop their projects. The result is three independent projects that include exhibitions, presentations, film screenings, concerts, and performance art.

This edition of Bergen Assembly has three main stages: in the old main Fire Station and in the Hagerup Garden freethought will have speeches, presentations, and art exhibits. In the Bergen Art Hall you will find PRAXES’ group exhibition, including the famous artist Lynda Benglis, and the former public swimming pool Sentralbadet will house Tarek Atouis’ project WITHIN. Additionally, there will be performances in St. Jørgens’ bomb shelter (built during the Cold War), exhibitions at Kunstgarasjen, at Entrèe, and at Bergen Town Hall, and a two-day conference, The Infrastructure Summit, at USF Verftet.
